Rita and Jim have been throwing our challenges left and right the last few days...one was to write a winter poem...I like this challenge...I had something ready within a few minutes.
Lilacs and Violets
Well, I was only sleeping
when the wind whispered soft and low
I was only sleeping,
far beneath the winter snow
I dreamt of dancing crispness
I danced of dreaming white
I held my breath and waited
in the quiet of the night
Smirking flashing color,
small birds on sterile field
and I was only sleeping
smiling soft, not weeping,
yes, I was only sleeping
far beneath the winter snow.
